11th of May

Art & Design District Palma celebrated multidisciplinary artist Francesca Martí. On the occasion of winning the XAM Visual Arts prize, the Mallorcan artist opened the doors of her studio in Palma and another of the District’s industrial spaces with ‘Copper’. The artistic series explores different aspects of contemporary life and encompasses performance, video, sculpture, and installation.

‘Copper’ highlights the historical and symbolic importance of this material through emblematic works such as ‘Copper Venus’, an almost three-meter female figure wrapped in cord, and the dynamic performance ‘Copper Transmissions’, a filmed performance piece staged at the Swedish Historical Museum in Stockholm in 2021. The video installation ‘Quondam’, previously presented in the District on 23 March, was also exhibited alongside this series. This installation explored neighborhood change, social inclusion, and a sense of belonging through the stories of the immigrant community.

Following the exhibition, Art & Design District Palma hosted a cocktail party on the rooftop of one of the District’s spaces.

During the event, attendees enjoyed signature cocktails and culinary delights in an environment designed to complement this artistic experience.
